Francisco Pizzaro

     Francisco Pizzaro was a conquer during the Age of Exploration. He said to the new world in search for land. He was born in Trujillo, Spain. Many conquers came from this region of Spain. In addition, many soldiers came from his family as well. His main influence for becoming a conquer was his second cousin, Hernan Cortes, who conquered Mexico.


     Francisco Pizzaro founded the capital of Peru, Lima. He defeated the Inca Empire. Pizzaro made a few voyages to the new world. He left Spain in 1502 and lived on Hispaniola. Then in 1509, he joined De Ojeda and went to Columbia. In 1520, he heard tales of gold and made two expeditions to Peru which was south of Panama. He lived in Panama at that time. Even though he made so many voyages, his main voyage was to Peru.


     When he went to Peru, he found many things such as gold, llamas, and he brought back a few people of the Inca Empire to comfirm his discovery. He lived in Panama at that time so he asked the governor of the land if he could go back to Peru in search for more riches. The governor thought that another expedition to Peru would be too expensive. But that did not stop Pizzaro. He went to Spain and asked the king to finance his voyage. In January 1531, Pizzaro went to Peru with about two hundred (200) men and sixty-five (65) horses.


     Pizzaro was a cruel man so instead of talking, he attacked Peru. Pizzaro and his men slaughtered the Inca warriors. In November 1533, Pizzaro went to the Inca capital. The Inca Empire never again regained their power. After that, Pizzro was famous. Spain gained a lot from his accomplishment.


     What was interesting about Pizzaro was that he was killed by his own partner. In 1537, his former partner, Diego de Alagro, turned against Pizzaro. Almargo believed that he wasn't receiving his rightful share of the Inca riches. Almargro's followers broke into Pizzaro's palace and executed him.


    As you can see, Francisco Pizzaro was a famous, wealthy man. He made history. He founded Peru, Lima. He also brought the Spanish culture to Peru. In conclusion, Pizzaro was a famous conqueror who impacted history.
